Hat Collector from Spain

Hello Friends!

My name is Jose Carlos Rastrojo Corral. I am a member of Spain's
GUARDIA CIVIL, a national law enforcement agency. I am assigned to the
Traffic section and work in Ourense, which is northwestern Spain. Almost
all the police hats I buy from USA are old and they aren´t used any
more. If anyone can assist me I would be greatly appreciative. My
e-mail address is rastry@earthlink.net and the following is my postal
address:

JOSE CARLOS RASTROJO CORRAL
Av.
Police Museum Project Completed

The California Law Enforcement Historical Society has completed their first major project. The California Police Museum has been finished after nearly two years of fundraising and construction.

Mounted within a 30’ trailer, the museum highlights the chronology of California’s Finest in a professional manner. There are 11 galleries within the museum which are constructed to permit easy rotation of exhibits. Starting with the formation of the State and continuing to modern times, the museum interprets the technological and social changes in effecting law enforcement.

Saturday, September 22, 2007, marked the grand opening of the museum in San Luis Obispo. Dr. James Hunt, SLO Sheriff’s Advisory Council President was honored to cut the ribbon in a brief ceremony. The celebration was held in conjunction with the annual “Sheriff’s Family Day at the Ranch” event.

In attendance at the ceremony were distinguished members of the Advisory Council including President Dr. Hunt and Past President, Jay Connor. In addition, California Law Enforcement Historical Society members included President Gary Hoving, Director Dr. Jack Jones, Dawn Foster and Jay Conner.

The Sheriff’s Advisory Council was thanked for their large donation which guaranteed the quick success of the project. The Council has long been supporters of law enforcement, the community and history.

Shortly after the ribbon ceremony, the event officially opened and the first guests arrived through the museum. The exhibits seemed to be enjoyed by all with countless praises from the viewers. Most gratifying was the exclamation of “wow” upon entering the trailer.

The primary museum docents were the Hoving’s including Crystal, Jill and Gary. A number of other society members came by including Charter President Evan Mason, June Sievers, Dawn Foster, Jay Conner, and Vivian Krug.

While donations and merchandise sales were very light, the museum saw 532 visitors on the maiden voyage. Of course, 2 were police patrol dogs, but they seemed to enjoy the displays.

The 30’ trailer has an interior ceiling height of nearly 8 feet which is comforting to the viewer. The only drawback is that it may be difficult to transport in high winds.

The final assessment concludes that the museum is a very successful project and our appreciation is extended to each of the donors. Thank you.
